...and baby makes Five!
Well, we found out last week we are having another little one. Funny story actually... We had JUST started trying in early February so when I got the flu last week, I thought I'd be on the safe side and tell the nurse that we had been trying. You know, just in case he prescribed me medicine that might not be good for the baby in the event I was indeed pregnant. "Congratulations!" she said when she returned 5 minutes later after I took the test. I was so excited and thought, "Wow, that was fast! I must be only 3 weeks along." So, I got my medicine for the flu and was on my way. I immediately called my ob/gyn to schedule my first pre-natal appointment. Thursday, Feb 28 at 4 pm- today is the day God got a real good laugh! So, I went today to see my doctor- prepared for an end-of-October due date and a pea-sized baby on the sonogram screen. SURPRISE! The baby is 5 centimeters, heart-beat, tiny hands and arms and 12 weeks! I laughed the entire time at the doctors in a state of shock to say the least. Our "planning" had been an afterthought in God's plan! So, the due date quickly jumped from October to early September and from thinking I was only 1 month along to already being 3 months pregnant. What a glorious surprise and blessing. So...here comes baby #3.

Merry Christmas 2007!
Well, Christmas this year was like any other...the traditional Christmas Eve service with all the Peurifoy's at Lake Pointe Church, dinner at my mom's and off to bed to await Santa's surprises. Landon would have been just as happy if Santa had just brought paper and boxes, but the basketbal goal and basketball did just fine! Madeline passed Santa's nice list, too, making out with an ipod and idog this year loaded with all her favs (Hannah Montana, BarlowGirl, Hilary Duff, Cheetah Girls, etc.) And mom and dad must have been super good for Santa to have hired a plumber to finally complete the kids bathroom! How did Santa know just what we needed? That makes 6 rooms down and 3 more to go! One day we will have the whole house completed...but, one day at a time. Here are some pics from Christmas day. Merry Christmas!

Making Elves of Ours"elves"
Well, we decided to become elves- well, not really. But, my friend Sara sent me this and I couldn't resist turning us all into elves for the day. So, I hope you get a chuckle out of this like we did. Merry Christmas! http://www.elfyourself.com/?id=1390916136

Jump Rope for Heart

Well, I remember my elementary days at Montgomery Elementary and how much fun Jump Rope forHeart was. Already, the American Heart Association meant so much to my family. My dad suffered his first massive heart attack when I was only 4 and thanks to God and His sovereignty, I would have him for 22 more delightful years. Well...the jump lives on as Madeline participated in her first Jump Rope for Heart event at her school. She practiced for 2 weeks just to show off her skills for a few minutes to benefit the AHA. What an energetic and loving spirit she is. She was so proud of her self and not to mention, so excited that she raised enough money for the voice changer...that is a whole other conversation...! Thanks to everyone who donated to support her and the American Heart Association. The voice changer will live on as her reminder!

We're back in the Blog of things
Well, it's been almost an entire year and I am finally recommitted to this blog. I promise, I will update this at least once per month with news of the family.
Instead of recapping all of 2006, let me just start with 2007:
- Madeline is in her second half of her Kindergarten year. She loves her teacher, has made some new friends, and is doing great. She is reading, writing, and honing in on her leadership skills. She also made team for gymnastics, participated in her first meet in January and is gearing up for her second one next weekend. She is full of spunk and is a barrel of laughs!
- Landon turned one year on January 28. Can you believe? He is trying to walk, although his preferred method of movement is still high-tailing it across the floor on his knees. He crawls like a little bulldog- too funny! He is a healthy, chunk of fun and all smiles. He is the happiest baby I have ever encountered and is a precious addition to our already fun and loud little family. Check out his one year pics: http://photographybymonty.com/sessions/lord2307.htm
- Bret and I are doing good. Bret is searching for a new police department to work for and I am still happy at American Heart Association. We will celebrate our two year wedding anniversary in a few months and are looking forward to planning a vacation. We haven't taken one since our honeymoon!
Well, that is all for now. Check back soon for more updates. God Bless!

Landon Meets His Friend

Our friends Emily, Bryan and little Avery came to visit us today and generously loaned us the use of their swing (thank, God). Thanks, Emily and Bryan. Avery was a bit jealous of her mommy holding and feeding the baby, but was enjoying touching and poking at him. She really wanted him to take his pacifier, even though he was definitely NOT interested. We can't wait to go to the zoo and to Sea World this summer with the Gilberts. Landon is really looking forward to playing with his friend Avery and Madeline is looking forward to seeing Shamu.

She brought the Peurifoy clan, Great Aunt Natalie, cousin Holly, Sherry and Sherry's grandmother. We had fun catching up and they enjoyed holding and feeding the baby. Here are pcitures of the generations of a few Peurifoys.

Happy One Month, Landon!

My, my, how this month has flown by. I can't believe our little man is one month old. I am anxious to see how much he weighs now, since he is getting so chubby. We tried rice cereal today and we really liked it...didn't make us sleep any longer though. Here are some pictures of him celebrating his one month milestone.

We have an Officer Among us!
Well, Congratulations are in order for my dear husband, Bret! He has now officially become a police officer with the Royse City Police Department. We are so excited for his new opportunity and now we can find a place to LIVE! Yeah! It has been a long month awaiting the news. Royse City was his first choice of departments so we feel we are truly blessed. God is very good and we are so excited. Congratulations Officer Bret Lord!

Happy Valentine's Day

Love is in the air! Our family is full of so much love this year...celebrating a new marriage, a new blended family and welcoming our newest addition, little Landon. I am especially missing my dad this Valentine's Day and remembering Madeline's first Valentine's Day when my dad came over during his lunch break and brought Madeline her first Valentine and a purple teddy bear. I treasure that picture I took of them that day and am sad he is not here to visit Landon on his first Valentine's Day. He would just adore Landon, as he always wanted a boy in the family. I know his legacy lives on in me and I will pass it on to Madeline and Landon.
Well, here is Nana with her two favorite grandchildren on Landon's first Valentine's. She came bearing cards and lots of kisses and hugs! What more could Madeline and Landon ask for. Nana is so special.

Doctor, Doctor, Give us the News!
Landon's third doctor's appointment was today. He had two last week...they thought he might have been a bit jaundiced, but he triumphed! We left the hospital weighing an even 6 pounds. By that Thursday (only 3 days later) he had dropped down to 5 lbs 12 oz. The following Monday he was up a bit at 5 pounds 14 ounces and was making progress. He was losing his yellow tint and eating much better (an ounce at a sitting). We are proud to say that today our little boy weighs 6 pounds 4 ounces (only 3 ounces short of his birth weight), is eating 2 ounces each sitting and has beautiful pink skin. Dr. Fisch says he looks great and is growing good. Our next appointment will be the one he gets loads of shots...I think it's more painful for the mom to watch than for the babies getting pricked. Anyway, our little boy is doing excellent and changing every day.

Madeline on the Go!

Our little Madeline has learned to ride a bike. Santa actually brought it to her Christmas 2004, but we have had no place to ride it. This Christmas Madeline reminded us that it was in Nana's garage, so we decided to take it out of its rest home and put it to use. Madeline has mastered the skill of starting, turning and stopping and is really enjoying riding around the driveway...that is as far as mommy will let her go as of now! Look at Madeline go!

It's Been One Week....

Happy One Week Birthday to Landon! We celebrated with Grandma, Grandpa and cousin Brian coming to visit from Pasadena (Texas). There were no balloons, no noise makers, no huge party crowd. Just lots of kisses and hugs from Grandma and Grandpa. Brian really loved watching the baby and he kept telling us how much he really liked him and wanted us to come visit them soon. Grandma held Landon so much that after they left Madeline said Landon smelled like a "boy grandma"! I, on the other hand, celebrated my new son's one week birthday with a trip to the emergency room and a bladder infection. Definitely not as much fun as the kisses and hugs Landon received...that would have been a much nicer gift. All is well in the Lord household and we are adjusting to the new baby in the house, the reality of having TWO children, and still not getting any sleep. Happy One Week Birthday, Landon!

Lights, Camera, Landon!

Take a look at our new little boy! He is such a joy and we are having so much fun. He is having some problems with feeding, but he is doing better. I am learning a lot about extra patience. He has his first doctors appointment on Thursday, so we will see if he has gained any weight and talk about the feeding issues. We just thank God he didn't have any heart or lung issues since he was so early. We will continue to keep you posted and be watching for more pictures.

Welcome Baby Landon

Welcome Landon Wayne Lord!
He was born at 10:23 am on Saturday, January 28 and weighed in at 6 lbs 7 oz. He was 19 and 3/4 inches long and a big boy for being 4 weeks early. We are so excited to have him in our lives and he is such a blessing and welcome addition to our family. Here are a few pictures from his first days.

Happy New Year!

Well, 2005 was a blast and so eventful. Bret and I married this year in May and then found out shortly after we were expecting. We had not planned to get pregnant on our honeymoon, but we could not be happier to welcome a new baby boy into our family this coming new year. We are looking forward to what 2006 has in store.
We went to Buca di beppo to ring in the new year with Kelly and Ryan Walker and friends and then went over to the Walkers house to continue ringing in the new year. Kelly and I enjoyed drinking our non-alcoholic beer; it was actually quite refreshing to taste beer again after 8 months. We had so much fun and then were in bed by 1 am. Oh, how times have changed! Here we are at Buca around the Pope table (kind of creepy I might add). But, oh, so much fun. Happy New Year!
